BLURRED EXPECTATIONS : What we see vs. What is real

These expectations that they see are not physically real, never mind achievable. Life is not Photoshop. It is so important to create positive self talk and self body image.

Above is the video I stumbled upon a couple of years ago. Needless to say I felt inclined to bring it back up to the surface. A group of guys decided to do a video on “Guys Get Photoshopped Like Women.” After watching this clip again it is amazing how much its message still rings true, if not more. Reality is NOT always what it seems. In fact, when the guys asked the Buzzfeed Lifestyle Editor: “In all honesty across media how much of beauty is photoshopped?” She responded with a chuckle followed by: “All of it.” This may be one of the hardest concepts to get people to not only understand but to believe. These men will make you laugh throughout the video because of their personalities and because they also think this is all ridiculous.

I strongly feel that this world of social media and expectations are ruining true, raw beauty especially in the view of young girls. Yet this is ALL they are exposed to. These expectations that they see are not physically real, never mind achievable. We need to stop this trend and remind ourselves and those around us what is real. Life is not Photoshop. Your body is not an object. It is so important to create positive self talk and self body image. No matter what stage you are at, growth and progress will be available if you are in search of the right things. This applies to both men and women. I love that these men were willing enough to show people that. They always say we want what we don’t have...but does what you want even exist?

With a new year ahead of you take the time to bring true beauty and hard work into your everyday life. Please take the time to watch and share this video with others (they may even just make you laugh, too)!
