Continuum Performance
Lateral Band Walks

Lateral Band Walks
Lateral band walks are a SUPER popular warmup… but how do you ensure you are doing them effectively?

Do: Recognize that this movement pattern is targeting ‘weaker’ areas of our hips. There is a need to ensure we are moving slowly, intently and without an ego. The level of resistance needed for the average individual is not high. Trust the process and ensure that your entire core is ‘lit up’ and tight throughout.

Don’t: Go fast. This is a slow movement and should be treated as something that will take up time. One might argue that you should try to perform 3 reps/leg as SLOW as possible instead of trying to do a mindless 10. Watch the lean! When this area gets a little fatigue your step may not be as large, that’s ok! Allow the shorter steps vs leaning to try to get the same stride length everytime.
